Leopard Causes Stir in Thane Housing Society

A leopard entered a housing society in Thane, Maharashtra, leading to a rescue operation. While some locals reported injuries, this is unconfirmed by officials. The animal was seen in viral videos moving through tight spaces. The Forest Department and Sanjay Gandhi National Park are handling the situation.

A leopard wandered into a residential complex in Thane's Bhayandar area on Friday morning, sparking a major rescue operation, an official confirmed. Although locals reported two or three individuals were injured by the leopard, officials have yet to validate these claims.

Footage circulated on social media showed the elusive animal navigating narrow gaps and what seemed to be a staircase within the complex. It reportedly took shelter in one of the rooms for a period of time, adding to the residents' anxiety.

The Forest Department, in collaboration with the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, has launched a strategic rescue mission. Pawan Sharma from the RAWW urged local residents to remain indoors and avoid gathering in the vicinity to ensure safety.
