Delhi's Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Parvesh Verma on Thursday voiced sharp criticism towards the former Aam Aadmi Party government, targeting its inefficiency in addressing drainage projects in the Kirari Assembly constituency. Verma pledged that the area will be free from waterlogging issues within the year.
His statements followed the viral spread of videos on social media depicting Kirari areas, including Sharma Colony, inundated with sewer-contaminated water. He noted this predicament isn't new, attributing it partly to the predecessor's incomplete projects.
Verma assured a robust cohort of agencies, including the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Public Works Department (PWD), and Delhi Jal Board (DJB), are diligently working on distinct drainage projects, aiming for resolution within one year. He further highlighted ongoing sewer work in 114 colonies, slated for completion by mid-2026, and announced a new sewage treatment plant to handle the locality's sewage efficiently.
