Tragedy in Karachi: Gas Leak Explosion Claims Lives

A tragic gas leak explosion in Karachi's Old Soldier Bazar resulted in the deaths of at least 16 individuals, including nine children. The incident, which happened during Sehri time on the first day of Ramzan, also left 14 injured. Authorities are still searching for more bodies under the debris.

In a devastating incident in Karachi, at least 16 people lost their lives after a suspected gas leak led to an explosion in a residential building. Among the deceased are nine children, aged between two and 17, while 14 others sustained injuries.

The explosion occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the Old Soldier Bazar area as the city observed the first day of Ramzan. Police official Jamshed Asher confirmed the blast was likely caused by a gas leak. A shortage of natural gas has forced many families, particularly in low-income areas, to rely on liquid petroleum gas cylinders.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities searching for possible survivors amidst the collapsed building structure. This incident is the second major tragedy in Karachi within a month, following a deadly fire in the Saddar area that claimed 79 lives.
