Escalating Heat: A Looming Crisis for Global Livability

A study by the Copernicus Climate Change Service highlights the increasing livability limitations due to severe heat. Younger adults face up to 50 hours and older adults up to 900 hours of such conditions annually. These limitations are pronounced in Asia and are expected to worsen with climate change.

In a dire forecast for global lifestyle, the Copernicus Climate Change Service has reported rising heat-related livability limitations. According to recent analysis, younger adults could struggle for 50 hours annually, while older adults face up to 900 hours.

The study underscores an alarming trend where 78% of the world's population now resides in zones impeding older adults' activities due to extreme heat. Younger individuals also face significant limitations, with 35% affected.

Particularly harsh conditions are prevalent in southwest and south Asia, alongside regions in the tropics. Researchers hope their findings will inspire urgent climate action to mitigate future heat extremes.
