Directed by filmmaker Nicolas Garier, "Paris 2024 Social Charter – The Gamble of the Games!" explores the innovative, inclusive, and wide-ranging socio-economic and environmental approach to delivering the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Social Charter, inspired by international labour standards, comprises 16 commitments that ensure diverse and equitable practices. These commitments include guarantees of employees' working conditions, broader recruitment parameters, and the opening of procurement processes to smaller businesses. The Charter was signed by representatives of the Olympic organizers, as well as Employers' and Workers' organizations.

"This film shows how important it is to recognize the social dimension of international sports events like the Olympics and build on the opportunities they offer to initiate long-lasting, positive change," said Cyril Cosme, Director of the ILO Office in Paris. "Whether it is respect and promotion of fundamental rights, the inclusion of small businesses in procurement opportunities, or integrating disadvantaged groups into decent work, including young people, women, and minorities, commitments like these ensure that the Games will have a valuable and enduring legacy in France and beyond."

The documentary highlights the comprehensive social commitments adopted by the Paris organizers, covering the entire event delivery process. It stands as a testament to how ILO constituents can transform the Olympics into a platform for decent work and improved livelihoods.

An earlier film, "Paris 2024 Social Charter, 1919-2019: The Genesis," released in 2020, provided background on the Social Charter. Funded by the ILO, this film traced the historical links between the Olympic movement and the ILO since the 1920s. It was presented in Paris and Geneva as part of the celebration of the ILO's centenary.
