Amit Panghal's campaign at the Paris Olympics ended in a disappointing pre-quarterfinal exit, reprising his early departure from the Tokyo Games. The seasoned boxer suffered a 1-4 split decision loss to Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba in the 51kg bout, an opponent he previously bested during the Commonwealth Games.

Debutant boxers Jaismine Lamboria and Preeti Pawar were also ousted on Tuesday. Lamboria, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, lost 0-5 to Nesthy Petecio of the Philippines in the 57kg category. Preeti, despite a valiant performance, lost by a narrow 2-3 split verdict to Colombia’s Yeni Marcela Arias in the 54kg bout.

In a dramatic bout, Panghal struggled against the aggressive Chinyemba, unable to connect effectively in the final moments. The seasoned Indian boxer couldn’t replicate his past performance, trailing on three cards from the onset. Lamboria, dropping to the 57kg class, failed to match the speed and skill of her veteran opponent, marking a hard-fought Olympic debut for the Indian contingent.
