A sports department official in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been accused of molesting a gold medalist para-athlete, according to police reports on Monday.
The athlete, who won three gold medals in the 2021 national para-athletics championship, reported that the incident occurred in March but initially refrained from reporting it to avoid jeopardizing her career in shot put and discus throw.
Based on her recent complaint, an FIR has been lodged at Aberdeen police station, confirmed South Andaman Superintendent of Police Niharika Bhatt. Investigations are underway, and all individuals linked to the case are being examined.
