In an echo of the pandemic era, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host the second Test against Bangladesh behind closed doors at the National Stadium. This decision comes amidst ongoing construction work at the venue, aimed at preparing for the ICC Champions Trophy next year.
'We recognize the critical support our fans provide, but their health and safety remain our top priority,' said the PCB in a statement. 'After examining all options, we concluded the safest route is to proceed without spectators.'
Ticket sales are suspended, and fans who purchased tickets will be automatically refunded. The board expressed regret for any inconvenience but emphasized that the upgrades will improve the spectator experience for future events. Pakistan will play two Tests against Bangladesh, starting with the opening match in Rawalpindi on August 21.
