South Africa Aims for Ruthless Batting Against West Indies in Second Test
South Africa's captain, Temba Bavuma, urges his batsmen to score faster in the second test against West Indies in Guyana. After rain affected the first test, Bavuma calls for more ruthlessness to secure a win. He highlights the team's growing confidence and the need for consistent performance.
South Africa's captain, Temba Bavuma, has called for his batsmen to score more quickly as they prepare for the second test against the West Indies in Georgetown, Guyana. The first test ended in a draw after rain disrupted play for three out of the five days.
Bavuma emphasized the importance of being more ruthless at the crease. "The batters need to be a lot more ruthless. The guys who get the opportunity to settle in, must really go on and get a base score for the team that will give us a lot more time from a bowling point of view," he stated at a press conference on Wednesday. He added frustration over lost opportunities due to the rain-affected first test.
The pitch in Guyana is expected to be as docile as it was in Trinidad and Tobago, where South Africa fell five wickets short in their attempt to bowl out the West Indies. Bavuma praised the efforts of his bowlers, including Keshav Maharaj, who bowled half the innings. He remains confident in the young team's growth and their potential to become formidable.
