Pakistan has plummeted to eighth in the World Test Championship standings after a crushing 10-wicket loss to Bangladesh and a consequential over-rate penalty in the series opener in Rawalpindi.
With just 16 points and a winning percentage of 22.22 after six games, Pakistan finds itself in the second-to-last position, only ahead of the West Indies.
Bangladesh, celebrating their maiden Test win against Pakistan on Sunday, now hold the seventh spot with 21 points, having secured two victories in their five matches so far.
The situation looks increasingly dire for Pakistan, who were penalized six WTC points for being six overs short during the game due to a slow-over rate in the first Test.
Bangladesh also faced penalties, losing three points for being three overs short of the acceptable rate.
The two teams are set to face off again in the second Test in Rawalpindi starting Friday.
Leading the standings, India has amassed 74 points and boasts a winning percentage of 68.52 with six wins out of nine matches.
