Naomi Osaka, the former world number one, has dubbed 2024 her 'learning year' as she navigates the tennis tour after a maternity break. The Japanese star, who hails four major titles, is currently grappling with early Grand Slam exits, suggesting her comeback journey is still in its formative stages.
Osaka, 26, faced a series of setbacks in 2023, including second-round exits at Flushing Meadows, Wimbledon, and Roland Garros, and a first-round loss at the Australian Open. Recently, she was defeated 6-3, 7-6(5) by Karolina Muchova, unable to counter the Czech's high-quality serve-and-volley game.
Addressing her struggles, Osaka stated, "I take these losses really personally. It's a dramatic word, but my heart dies every time I lose." Despite dealing with disappointment, she remains committed, finding both challenges and joys in her return. "This year for me has been a learning year," she said, emphasizing her dedication and willingness to grow.
