Bangladesh's seasoned batter Mushfiqur Rahim is set to miss the upcoming Test series against the West Indies, commencing on November 22. The decision follows a finger injury Rahim sustained, which has led to a fracture on the tip of his left index finger.
The injury occurred during the first One Day International against Afghanistan in Sharjah on November 6, and consequently sidelined him from the remaining matches of the series. Rahim's participation in the ODI series against the West Indies, scheduled from December 8, remains uncertain as his recovery could take four to six weeks, according to medical assessments.
Despite his absence, the Bangladesh team presses on, preparing for three ODIs and three T20Is against the West Indies, with hopes that Rahim, who has stepped back from T20I cricket, will return for the ODI matches if healed. As it stands, no replacement has been announced for Mushfiqur in the ongoing ODIs against Afghanistan. Bangladesh's Test squad includes names such as Najmul Hossain Shanto as captain and Litton Das as wicketkeeper.
