Sanjay Manjrekar Defends Rishabh Pant Amidst Criticism

Sanjay Manjrekar supports wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, suggesting criticism should focus on his failures rather than shot selection. Despite Pant's recent struggles in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Manjrekar highlights Pant's impressive Test record. Pant faces scrutiny after India's loss to Australia and criticism from Sunil Gavaskar.

In a showing of solidarity, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has come to the defense of embattled wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. His stance is that critiques should highlight the failures instead of poor shot selection.

The remarks came to light following Sunil Gavaskar’s censure of Pant's 'stupid' shot during India's first innings against Australia in the Melbourne Test. Despite a forgettable performance leading to a significant loss for India, Manjrekar urges a broader perspective on Pant’s performance.

Manjrekar took to Twitter with staunch support: 'Criticise Pant for not scoring enough runs, not his methods,' noting Pant's averages and impressive innings over his career. Despite challenges during the Border-Gavaskar series, Pant continues to be a player of caliber, though needing to address inconsistencies.
