BFI Rejects Anurag Thakur's Nomination for Electoral College
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) rejected Anurag Thakur's nomination for the electoral college, citing his ineligibility to represent Himachal Pradesh. Thakur's nomination was part of a 60-member electoral college finalized after scrutiny. Similar rejections were made for candidates from Meghalaya and Tripura due to eligibility issues.

The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has denied Anurag Thakur's eligibility to join the electoral college for the upcoming elections, citing non-compliance with regulatory criteria. Thakur, a former Sports Minister, was originally nominated by the Himachal Pradesh Boxing Association alongside its current president.
The BFI scrutinized 60 nominations for its electoral list, excluding Thakur for violating the Boxing Federation of India notice dated March 7, 2025, and the National Sports Development Code of 2011. The scrutiny process also led to the exclusion of candidates from Meghalaya and Tripura, due to similar eligibility concerns.
The Indian Olympic Association previously appointed a temporary panel to manage boxing operations following the BFI's delay in holding elections. However, the Delhi High Court intervened, granting a stay order against the panel's establishment, as the move was argued to be arbitrary and unlawful.
