The first group of Indian shooters, backed by 13 support staff, embarked on their journey to Buenos Aires for the ISSF World Cup starting on April 3. This marks the beginning of the shooting season in Argentina's capital. The Indian contingent in the World Cup comprises 35 shooters competing in 15 medal events, encompassing rifle, pistol, and shotgun disciplines.
This first gathering features double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, uniquely qualifying in two individual events. Other team members will join the competition in later stages, departing on March 29. Preparedness was ensured through the national camp held at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi from March 14, supporting the athletes for two consecutive World Cup legs in South America.
Ronak Pandit, the team’s high-performance manager, highlighted the camp's focus on understanding athletes' strengths and devising personalized programs. He emphasized fostering a team culture of grounded progress and learning, setting a crucial example for emerging talents alongside Olympic winners and former champions. The World Cup also marks the return of prominent shooters Saurabh Chaudhary and Gurpreet Singh, making their comeback after extended breaks.
