In a stinging critique, former wicketkeeper batter Kamran Akmal slammed Pakistan's performance in their recent T20I series against New Zealand, describing it as 'shameful.' Akmal has called for the nation's cricket management to abandon favouritism in team selection and adopt a merit-based strategy similar to India's.

Pakistan's disastrous five-match T20I series concluded with an eight-wicket loss in Wellington, culminating in a 4-1 series defeat. Akmal didn't hold back on social media, saying, "Our team looked like a local team. It was a shameful performance. India wins all the matches because they make the team on merit, not like us."

While Pakistan licks its wounds, captain Salman Ali Agha acknowledged the team had been outclassed but maintained a focus on series positives. Despite the setback, Pakistan is gearing up for a three-match ODI series beginning Saturday at McLean Park.
