James Maddison Faces Six-Month Recovery After ACL Surgery
Tottenham Hotspur's James Maddison will undergo surgery following an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in a pre-season match against Newcastle United. This marks the second injury to his right knee. Maddison played a crucial role in Spurs' Europa League triumph last season but now faces at least six months of recovery.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, James Maddison, is set to undergo surgery after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament during a pre-season encounter with Newcastle United. The injury occurred on Sunday, forcing Maddison off the pitch on a stretcher.
Manager Thomas Frank confirmed it was the same knee Maddison injured in May, which caused him to miss the season's conclusion. Last season, Maddison was instrumental in helping Spurs claim the Europa League title, contributing 12 goals and 11 assists.
While the club has yet to announce a specific recovery timeline, ACL injuries typically require players to be sidelined for at least six months. Spurs are set to face Paris St Germain in the UEFA Super Cup in Udine, Italy, on August 13 before starting their Premier League season at home against Burnley.
