Report: Twins reach deal with former Rockies C Rosario

The Minnesota Twins agreed to a minor league deal with former Colorado Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario, according to multiple reports. Rosario isn't expected to receive an invitation to major league camp at spring training.

The 29-year-old is looking to return to the majors for the first time since 2015. He played in Korea for two seasons and spent last season in Japan. Rosario finished fourth in National League Rookie of the Year balloting in 2012 when he had 28 homers and 71 RBIs while batting .270 in 117 games for the Rockies.

He batted .292 with 21 homers and 79 RBIs in 2013 before he encountered hitting and fielding problems. Rosario batted .267 with 13 homers and 54 RBIs in 2014 and .268 with six homers and 29 RBIs in 2015. Rosario primarily played first base in his final season with the Rockies and appeared in just two games as a catcher.

Colorado designated Rosario for assignment following the 2015 season. --Field Level Media
