Australia established a stronghold in the ongoing Second Ashes Test against England at the Gabba, finishing at 450/8 in 99 overs on Day 3. The home team secured a crucial 116-run lead at Tea, thanks to Mitchell Starc's unbeaten 46 and a solid overall batting display.

Starting the day at 378/6, Alex Carey and Michael Neser quickly added 50 runs for the seventh wicket. Carey achieved a quick half-century before falling for 63, courtesy of England's Gus Atkinson. Mitchell Starc then assumed the mantle, thwarting the English bowlers with strategic aggression.

Australia's attack continued from Day 2's stunning performance, where Jake Weatherald and Travis Head's aggressive start set a dominant tone. The middle order, led by Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, extended the momentum, scoring briskly amidst England's challenges. Despite late efforts by Brydon Carse, Australia ended the day with a commanding lead.
