Marco Odermatt claimed his 49th World Cup victory by winning the men's giant slalom at Beaver Creek in Colorado. The Swiss skier led by 0.86 seconds after the first run and held off Italy's Alex Vinatzer through a challenging second run to secure victory.
In a stunning display of skill, Marco Odermatt clinched his 49th World Cup victory in Beaver Creek, Colorado, in the giant slalom event on Sunday. The Swiss skiing sensation, who already triumphed at the same venue in the downhill event, exhibited remarkable resilience and tact.
Odermatt, leading by a substantial 0.86 seconds after the opening run on the daunting Birds of Prey course, had to tap into every ounce of his ability to maintain that advantage through a demanding set of bumps in the second run. His efforts culminated in a victorious combined time of two minutes, 20.59 seconds, edging out Italy's Alex Vinatzer by 0.23 seconds.
Despite Vinatzer's charge, who climbed from 10th place after the first run, Odermatt's tactical prowess saw him come out on top, while Norway's Henrik Kristoffersen secured third place. Odermatt's achievement marked another milestone in an already illustrious season, showcasing his dominance across all skiing disciplines.
