The Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, has called for a court-monitored investigation into the events that unfolded during Lionel Messi's brief appearance at the Salt Lake stadium, Kolkata. This demand comes in response to the chaos experienced by fans and the subsequent actions of the state government.
During a press briefing, Adhikari rejected the state government's decision to appoint a committee to probe the incident, insisting that only a judicial scrutiny can reveal the truth. The opposition leader also accused state ministers of mismanagement and sought the arrest of two ministers involved in the incident.
Adhikari's call coincides with challenges over event management, the alleged mishandling by the state, and economic concerns raised by spectators who lamented the inflated prices of refreshments and other services inside the stadium. The chaotic scene fueled demands for accountability and transparency, highlighting political tensions between the BJP and the ruling TMC.
