Five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah is set on making a remarkable comeback after overcoming a 20-month rehabilitation due to a debilitating Achilles tendon tear. The absence from the Paris Games has not deterred her resolve as she enters this season as a stepping stone to regain her peak form.
At 33, Thompson-Herah is set to take part in the World Athletics Relays in Botswana, having already returned to competition earlier this year. The Jamaican icon, who made history by winning back-to-back Olympic sprint doubles at the 2021 Tokyo Games, is now part of the Jamaican women's 4x100m team for the event.
Looking ahead, Thompson-Herah aims to defend her titles in the 100m and 200m events at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in July, setting her sights on another Olympic appearance. 'I'm just using this season as a stepping stone. A recovery, a fun one,' she expressed optimistically, highlighting her resilience and passion for the sport.
