The Indian Women's Hockey Team recently concluded an intensive goalkeeping training camp at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Bengaluru. Under the expertise of David Williamson and overseen by Chief Coach Sjoerd Marijne, the camp ran from April 22 to May 2, 2026. This 11-day program, backed by Anandana, the Coca-Cola India Foundation, was a concentrated effort to enhance the performance of the team's goalkeepers.

Prominent senior goalkeepers, including Savita, Bichu Devi Kharibam, Bansari Solanki, and Madhuri Kindo, participated, focusing on vital aspects such as technical proficiency, decision-making, defensive organization, and tactical awareness. These elements were rigorously practiced to prepare for significant international fixtures. Savita, reflecting on the camp's impact, emphasized its role in skill enhancement and situational preparedness, expressing gratitude to the foundation for its support.

Alongside their personal growth, the goalkeepers, particularly the senior ones, embraced mentoring roles during the camp. Savita highlighted her focus on assisting younger teammates, fostering a positive training environment. Bichu Devi echoed the sentiment, stressing the importance of defensive structure and communication, which were key focal points throughout the sessions. For Bansari Solanki, the camp was an opportunity to refine decision-making under pressure and enhance tactical understanding, guided by both Williamson and Marijne through targeted exercises.
