Komal Kohar triumphantly secured India's initial medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships with an impressive bronze in the women's 48kg division. Competing instead of Tokyo silver medallist Mirabai Chanu, her combined lift of 177kg (78kg in snatch and 99kg in clean and jerk) allowed her to shine on the international stage.

The event showcased several exceptional performances, notably by Chinese Taipei’s athletes who dominated the women's 48kg category with a one-two finish. Huang Yi Chen claimed gold with a total weight of 193kg, while fellow competitor Fang Wan-Ling followed closely, lifting 192kg for silver as Chinese Taipei asserted its dominance.

North Korea's Un Chol Pang stole the spotlight in the men's 60kg division, setting new World and Asian records in the clean and jerk with a lift of 174kg, finishing with a gold medal total of 304kg. The men's competition underscored intense rivalries, although traditional powerhouses like China were absent from some categories.
