Scott McTominay's Iconic Goal Immortalized on Limited-Edition £20 Note
Scott McTominay's stunning overhead kick against Denmark, pivotal in Scotland's World Cup 2026 qualification, is celebrated on a limited-edition £20 note. Only 100 copies exist, with proceeds supporting homelessness charity Crisis. McTominay's tribute underscores his influence in Scottish football and marks a high point in his career.
Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay has received a unique tribute with one of the most memorable moments of his career being immortalized on a £20 note. This limited-edition collectible, issued by the Bank of Scotland, follows the national team's dramatic qualification for FIFA World Cup 2026.
McTominay's spectacular overhead kick against Denmark, which ignited Scotland's thrilling 4-2 win at Hampden Park last November, now features on the commemorative currency. The goal, recognized as one of the finest in recent Scottish football history, was decisive in ending Scotland's 28-year absence from football's biggest stage.
In collaboration with McTominay and Scottish illustrator Katie Smith, the note comes with a noble cause, as proceeds from a prize draw and auction will support Crisis's mission to end homelessness in Scotland by 2040. Only 50 notes remain available to the public, including exclusive memorabilia linked to the midfielder, enhancing its collector's allure.
Calling the honor "incredibly special," McTominay remarked on the significance of the World Cup qualification, both for players and fans. Now a vital figure in European football with SSC Napoli, he is set to lead Scotland in their World Cup opener against Haiti on June 13.
