Inaugural World Yogasana Sports Championship 2026 Set to Redefine Global Yoga Landscape

The World Yogasana Sports Championship 2026 is set to open on June 4 in Ahmedabad, signaling a significant leap in the global acknowledgment of yoga as a competitive sport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the event, noting its pivotal role in the international sporting landscape.
Through a post on social media platform X, Modi accentuated the rising international acclaim of yoga. "Yoga is gaining tremendous popularity across the world!" he stated, adding his enthusiasm for the championship that unites yoga enthusiasts globally. Modi will attend the event virtually at 6:40 PM on Thursday.
With more than 400 athletes from over 60 countries participating, the championship is a milestone towards establishing yogasana within the Olympic sporting framework, supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Ministry of Ayush, and other national bodies. International and national judges will evaluate the event, underscoring the sport's expanding global reach.
