MotorLand Aragon Secures Future as MotoGP Reserve Circuit
MotorLand Aragon will become a MotoGP reserve circuit starting in 2028, following its last scheduled race in 2027. The venue, which has been part of the MotoGP calendar since 2010, will serve as a backup location through 2031, ensuring continuity in the event of race cancellations elsewhere.
In a strategic move to secure its future with the prestigious MotoGP series, MotorLand Aragon is set to become a reserve circuit from 2028. The decision follows an agreement announced by MotoGP on Wednesday, ensuring the venue remains part of the championship's structure until 2031.
The announcement highlights the significance of MotorLand Aragon to the MotoGP calendar, having hosted races since 2010 and serving as a key venue in Spain. MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta emphasized the longstanding partnership and regional importance of the event.
Notably, the Alcaniz-based circuit will host its final scheduled Grand Prix in 2027, but will remain ready to step in as a backup venue, safeguarding against potential race cancellations. Spain currently boasts four MotoGP rounds, with Aragon being a critical component of this lineup.
