Maple Leafs sign F Engvall to 2-year, $2.5M extension

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday they have signed rookie forward Pierre Engvall to a two-year, $2.5 million contract extension. The 23-year-old from Sweden has registered 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 35 games this season.

Engvall has also appeared in 94 career regular-season games with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, recording 56 points (30 goals, 26 assists). He added 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 34 career playoff games and was a member of the 2018 2018 Marlies team that won the Calder Cup as AHL champions.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Engvall was originally selected by the Maple Leafs in the seventh round of the 2014 NHL Draft.
