Last year, Google introduced search chips in Gmail that make it easier to sort and filter search results to find exactly what you're looking for faster. Now the search chips have been enhanced to provide richer drop-down lists with more options that help so that you can apply additional filters when searching in Gmail on web.

The search chips will appear automatically when you perform a search in Gmail on the web. Just click on the chips to quickly find the specific email or information you're looking for.

For instance, when you click on the “From” chip (pictured above), you’ll now be able to quickly type a name, choose from a list of suggested senders, or search for emails from multiple senders.

Enhanced search chips in Gmail on web are now available to all Google Workspace customers, G Suite Basic and Business customers as well as to users with personal Google Accounts.

Earlier this week, Google introduced search filters in Gmail on Android, which can be used independently or post-search to quickly and easily filter email and search results on Android mobile devices to find the specific one. The rollout is expected to complete by the end of October 2021.
