Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hailed the groundbreaking of a Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor assembly and test facility at Jagiroad in Morigaon district as a 'golden day' for the state's people.
Sarma extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tata Sons Limited for their efforts in establishing the facility, which is poised to spur industrial development and job creation.
The project, set to employ over 30,000 people, marks a significant step forward in the state's economic aspirations, transforming a site once occupied by the defunct Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited.
