India Successfully Tests Indigenous Long-Range Glide Bomb 'Gaurav'

India has successfully performed the maiden flight test of its long-range glide bomb, Gaurav, from an Su-30 MK-I fighter jet. The test, conducted off the coast of Odisha, confirmed the bomb's pinpoint accuracy. Defence officials lauded the achievement as a significant milestone in India's defense technology development.

India has carried out a successful maiden flight test of its long-range glide bomb (LRGB) named Gaurav from an Su-30 MK-I fighter jet of the Indian Air Force, the Defence Ministry announced.

During the flight test, conducted off the coast of Odisha, the bomb successfully hit the target at Long Wheeler's island with pinpoint accuracy. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the DRDO, Indian Air Force, and industry partners for this achievement, describing it as a major milestone in India’s quest to develop indigenous defense technologies.

The Gaurav, a 1,000 kg class glide bomb, was indigenously designed and developed by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in Hyderabad. The Defence Ministry confirmed that the bomb uses a highly accurate hybrid navigation scheme. Key partners Adani Defence and Bharat Forge also participated in this landmark flight trial.
