Karnataka Leads India's Semiconductor Revolution

Karnataka Minister Priyanka Kharge announced advancements in India's semiconductor industry, highlighting the state's unique skills and ecosystem at the Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL) press conference. Initiated by Karnataka's government and industry stakeholders, SFAL aims to position India as a leading semiconductor consumer with a market size of USD 64 billion by 2026.

Karnataka Minister Priyanka Kharge announced on Wednesday that the state is leading the way for India's semiconductor industry.

Addressing a press conference for the Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL), a Centre of Excellence for Fabless Semiconductors, Kharge emphasized Karnataka's skilled workforce and innovative ecosystem. This combination places the state at the forefront of the semiconductor revolution, aiming to make India a leading product nation.

Kharge noted that India is the second-largest consumer of semiconductors globally, expecting a market size of USD 64 billion by 2026. He also recalled initial challenges in launching SFAL during his previous term, overcome with support from the Chief Minister and Financial Department. The initiative is now influencing other states like Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
