UltraTech Cement, a leader in the cement and ready-mix concrete industry, has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with the Institute for Carbon Management (ICM) aimed at slashing carbon emissions in their production processes.

The partnership centers on the advanced Zero Carbon Lime (ZeroCAL) technology, conceived by ICM at UCLA, which could nearly eliminate 98% of carbon dioxide emissions linked to limestone processing in cement manufacturing, according to a company spokesperson.

To bring this innovation to fruition, a first-of-its-kind demonstration plant will be constructed at one of UltraTech's facilities, illustrating the pivotal role such alliances play in propelling the industry towards carbon neutrality by the year 2050, as emphasized by K C Jhanwar, UltraTech's Managing Director.
