The Indian personal computer market recorded a 3.8% growth, reaching 14.4 million units shipped year-on-year, according to market research firm IDC. This surge is attributed primarily to the increased demand for gaming and AI-powered PCs.
Navkendar Singh, IDC's associate vice president for devices research, highlighted that factors like the weakening rupee could raise device costs, impacting small and medium businesses and consumers. Yet, the Indian PC market is predicted to continue its upward trajectory, potentially achieving low single-digit growth by 2025.
Major market players include HP, which led with a 30.1% share, followed by Lenovo and Dell. The commercial segment grew 5.1% year-on-year in FY24, driven by enterprise and government demand. Acer and Asus reported notable growth, with Acer achieving a 27.7% annual increase.
