In a significant stride toward secure communication, Pakistan is preparing to launch 'Beep,' a locally developed messaging app designed for government employees. Set to be rolled out in the next two months, the app draws inspiration from China's WeChat and offers robust security features tailored for official use.
Faisal Iqbal Ratyal, Chief Executive of the National Information Technology Board (NITB), emphasized that 'Beep' has been certified by relevant government agencies, including the National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT). The app is engineered to incorporate end-to-end encryption, catering to the communications needs of public sector employees.
The application is slated for integration with Pakistan's federal e-Office system, promising to enhance secure messaging, document sharing, and workflow coordination. The initiative is expected to reduce operational risks, improve transparency, and rely on a usage-based fee model to ensure financial sustainability, according to the NITB.
