India's Ambitious Leap: 6G Technology Development Boost

The Indian government has greenlit 104 projects, with a cumulative worth of Rs 271 crore, aimed at propelling research and development in 6G technology. Parliament was apprised of this development on Thursday, underscoring the government's proactive approach under the Telecom Technology Development Fund.
In a written response to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Telecom Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani highlighted the release of the Bharat 6G Vision Document in March 2023. This document lays out India's strategic roadmap for excelling in the realm of 6G technologies, with an ambitious target to emerge as a global leader by 2030.
To foster a culture of innovation, the government has also established 100 5G Use Case Labs across academic institutions, aiming to bolster skills and capabilities for future 6G networks. Efforts are underway to support the development of 6G test beds, including Terahertz and advanced optical communication, engaging academia, research bodies, and industry players alike under the Bharat 6G Mission.
