Italy's antitrust authority has ended its investigations into three AI companies accused of unfair commercial practices. It reached binding agreements with the firms to ensure consumer protection.
The investigations focused on China's DeepSeek, France's Mistral AI SAS, and Turkey's Scaleup Yazilim Hizmetleri Anonim Şirketi. The companies allegedly posed risks through AI hallucinations, where AI generates inaccurate content. Commitments now require these companies to inform users of such risks through their platforms.
Moreover, DeepSeek has pledged to invest in technological solutions to minimize hallucinations, despite acknowledging limitations in current tech. Scaleup's NOVA AI service must clarify its role as a service interface without processing chatbot responses.
