Pakistan's IT Exports to Surge Beyond $4 Billion
Pakistan's IT exports are projected to surpass USD 4 billion in the current fiscal year, as declared during a meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The country's 5G spectrum auction has also garnered USD 509 million. Internet connectivity has notably increased, enhancing IT sector growth.
Pakistan's information technology sector is set to witness a remarkable surge in exports, with projections suggesting a crossing of the USD 4 billion mark during the current fiscal year. This prospect was discussed in a key meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on the advancement of the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication.
According to officials, IT exports may reach between USD 4.5 and USD 4.6 billion by the end of the fiscal year on June 30. Contributing significantly to this growth, the recent 5G spectrum auction has brought in a substantial USD 509 million in revenue.
Additionally, the number of domestic internet connections is set to rise from 1.9 million in 2024 to 5.1 million in 2026, enhancing internet accessibility across the nation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that bolstering the IT sector and increasing IT-related exports are government priorities, urging efforts to minimize the IT gap between urban and rural areas.
