AI coding startup Cursor is making significant strides in its European expansion efforts. The company, which SpaceX has an option to buy for a staggering $60 billion, is set to open its European headquarters in London. This expansion aligns with growing regional demand for software automation tools, according to an executive's statement to Reuters.

As SpaceX gears up for a closely watched initial public offering this week, it has revealed strategic interest in Cursor, with options either to purchase the burgeoning startup or to invest $10 billion into a new partnership. The decision to establish a base in London is driven by the city's abundant tech talent and access to a multilingual workforce, explained Cursor's senior vice president for EMEA, Ismail Elmas.

Cursor's growing client list, which includes British Airways and Nokia, highlights its success since its founding in 2022. The startup's software, competing with products like GitHub Copilot, speeds up development by allowing code generation through natural language. This adaptability is a key advantage as Cursor seeks to hire around 200 staff for its European operations by year's end.
