In a significant move, airspace restrictions will be imposed in the national capital on Sunday from 3 pm to 11 pm due to the swearing-in ceremony of the new government.
Sources informed that scheduled flights by recognized operators will remain unaffected during this period. Crucially, operations by the IAF, BSF, and Army aviation helicopters, as well as state-owned aircraft with governors or chief ministers aboard, will also proceed without hindrance.
According to the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), restrictions will impact non-scheduled and chartered flight operations. The restrictions align with Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi's oath-taking as head of a coalition government at Rashtrapati Bhavan, set for 7.15 pm. The Indira Gandhi International Airport typically handles around 1,300 flights daily.
