Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated the revolutionary Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP), aimed at transforming the immigration process for pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.
Shah described the FTI-TTP as a ‘visionary initiative’ paralleling the United States' Global Entry Program, designed to provide expedited, secure clearance for low-risk travellers upon arrival at select airports. This cutting-edge initiative underscores the Narendra Modi government's commitment to improving travel ease and efficiency.
The programme will be phased in, starting with Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad airports, ultimately reaching 21 major Indian airports. The e-gates will facilitate swift, seamless passage, significantly reducing airport congestion and enhancing travel convenience for all participants.
