Rail Ministry Improves Mumbai-North India Train Services

Indian rail network faces ticket shortages on critical routes. Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has pledged to improve services on the Godan and Mahanagari Expresses, adding more coaches and discussing duplicate services in response to a memorandum highlighting passenger hardships during peak seasons like summer and Diwali.

The Indian rail network, a lifeline for millions, is grappling with a shortage of available tickets on key routes like those connecting Mumbai to North India. This has prompted Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to assure substantial improvements, particularly for the Godan Express and Mahanagari Express.

The commitment follows a meeting with social worker Shubhranshu Dixit, who detailed the hardships faced by passengers, especially during peak travel periods such as summer vacations and Diwali holidays. Many North Indian residents in Mumbai rely on these trains to visit their hometowns, making the ticket scarcity a significant issue.

Minister Vaishnav has pledged to increase the capacity of both sleeper and AC coaches on these routes. The memorandum submitted by Dixit also suggested introducing duplicate services to ease congestion. These measures aim to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency, underscoring the Ministry's commitment to modernizing infrastructure and optimizing service delivery.
