Work on the Wadsa-Gadchiroli Railway line, a crucial infrastructure project passing through Left Wing Extremism affected areas, has picked up speed after receiving land and forest clearances, according to Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The minister emphasized the project's importance for local communities.
Addressing a supplementary question, Vaishnaw highlighted that the project had faced delays under the previous Uddhav Thackeray government due to a lack of necessary land acquisition support. However, the situation has improved significantly since the current government, led by Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde, took office.
Vaishnaw confirmed that all required land, approximately 220 hectares, has now been acquired, allowing the project to progress. Declared a special railway project in December 2015, the 52.36 km Wadsa-Gadchiroli line will enhance transport for passengers and facilitate the movement of agricultural and forest produce.
