Maharashtra's cabinet has given its nod to seven massive industrial initiatives valued at over Rs 81,000 crore. These projects, which span sectors like lithium batteries, electric vehicles, and semiconductors, are set to create around 20,000 jobs.
Leading the pack are JSW Green Mobility Ltd and JSW Energy PS Eleven Ltd, with substantial investments targeting electric and hybrid car manufacturing and lithium battery production. The state will also see its first integrated semiconductor project in Taloja.
The government's move, coming months before assembly elections, counters opposition claims that Maharashtra is losing its industrial edge. The approved projects will be located in Konkan, Marathwada, and Vidarbha regions.
