Cross-Border Railway Services Halt Amidst Bangladesh Turmoil
The Eastern Railway has announced the cancellation of Kolkata-Dhaka-Kolkata Maitree Express services on Wednesday due to protests and the political resignation of Bangladesh's PM, Sheikh Hasina. The bi-weekly Kolkata-Khulna-Kolkata Bandhan Express services also remain suspended since July 21.

The Eastern Railway announced on Tuesday that Kolkata-Dhaka-Kolkata Maitree Express services will be cancelled on Wednesday due to ongoing disturbances in Bangladesh.
Political turmoil erupted in the neighboring country following protests that led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
According to a message from Bangladesh Railways, Maitree Express, inactive since July 19, will not resume operations. The bi-weekly Kolkata-Khulna-Kolkata Bandhan Express has also been suspended since July 21.
