Amazon India Head Manish Tiwary Resigns Amid Rising Competition

Amazon India head Manish Tiwary has resigned after eight years with the company. He will stay until October to help with the transition. Tiwary's exit comes as Amazon faces stiff competition from local and international e-commerce players. Amit Agarwal will continue to support the Amazon.in team.

Amazon India head and country manager Manish Tiwary has resigned after an eight-year stint, the e-commerce giant confirmed on Tuesday.

Tiwary will continue with Amazon until October to help ensure a smooth transition. His departure coincides with Amazon's intensifying competition in India from platforms like Flipkart, Meesho, Blinkit, Swiggy's Instamart, and Zepto, which are gaining traction as consumers prefer the convenience of instant delivery for groceries and household items.

Amazon India confirmed Tiwary's resignation, stating, "Manish Tiwary has decided to pursue an opportunity outside of the company. Over the last eight years, his leadership has been crucial in making Amazon.in a preferred marketplace in India." Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President for India and Emerging Markets, will continue to be closely involved with the Amazon.in team.

India remains a priority for Amazon, which plans to invest an additional $15 billion in the country, bringing its total investment to $26 billion. After a recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy highlighted the company's long-term commitment to India.
