A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday when a bus transporting young students and their teachers caught fire in a suburban area of Bangkok. Officials fear more than 20 lives were lost in the blaze.

The bus was en route from central Uthai Thani province for a school trip when it caught fire in Pathum Thani province, a suburb of Bangkok. Videos showed the fully engulfed vehicle emitting thick black smoke by the roadside. Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the driver survived but is currently unaccounted for.

Initial reports estimated 25 casualties, but rescuers later adjusted the number to 23 after finding two more survivors. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has expressed condolences and assured that the government will cover medical expenses and compensate victims’ families.
