A tragic incident occurred aboard a Swiss aircraft when a flight attendant passed away following an emergency landing in Austria due to smoke in the cabin. The aircraft was on a flight from Bucharest to Zurich on December 23, when engine issues forced a diversion to Graz, according to a statement from Swiss.
The Airbus A220-300, carrying 74 passengers, landed safely, and all were evacuated. However, the flight attendant succumbed to injuries on Monday after being hospitalized in intensive care, Swiss reported. Two crew members were initially hospitalized following the landing.
Swiss CEO Jens Fehlinger expressed deep sorrow over the loss, offering condolences to the attendant's family. An investigation into the incident is underway, with the Graz public prosecutor's office appointing an aviation expert and ordering a forensic examination of the body, as reported by Austria's APA news agency.
