Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, reinforcing the state's critical role in India's economic growth. Addressing a distinguished gathering of investors, business leaders, and government officials, the Prime Minister highlighted the immense potential of Madhya Pradesh and its alignment with India's broader vision of becoming a global economic powerhouse.

He underscored his commitment to minimizing disruptions to the daily lives of citizens, particularly students preparing for their futures.

India's Growing Global Confidence and Economic Potential

PM Modi noted the rising global confidence in India's economic trajectory, citing positive remarks from international institutions such as the World Bank, OECD, and UN organizations. He emphasized that India is now seen as a pivotal force in the global supply chain, especially in aerospace, renewable energy, and manufacturing sectors. He highlighted that India remains the world's fastest-growing economy and a leader in clean energy advancements.

Madhya Pradesh: A Pillar of India's Growth Story

The Prime Minister described Madhya Pradesh as one of India's top agricultural and mineral-rich states, emphasizing its transformation over the past two decades. Once plagued by infrastructure deficits and law-and-order challenges, the state has now emerged as a premier destination for investment. He credited governance improvements and proactive state policies for this turnaround.

Infrastructure and Industrial Development

PM Modi detailed the extensive infrastructure development that has propelled Madhya Pradesh's growth:

  • Road Network: Over 5 lakh km of roads, with industrial corridors connected to expressways.
  • Rail Modernization: 100% rail electrification, with 80 stations being modernized.
  • Air Connectivity: Expansion of Gwalior and Jabalpur airport terminals.
  • Energy Sector: A power surplus of 31,000 MW, with 30% from renewable sources. The Rewa Solar Park and Omkareshwar floating solar plant were highlighted as key green energy projects.
  • Industrial Growth: Over 300 industrial zones, with major investment hubs in Pithampur, Ratlam, and Dewas.

Water Security and Agricultural Advancement

Recognizing water security as a crucial factor for industrial and agricultural development, the Prime Minister mentioned the Ken-Betwa River Interlinking Project worth ₹45,000 crore. This initiative is set to enhance irrigation and boost agri-based industries and food processing units in the state.

Economic Reforms and Investor-Friendly Policies

PM Modi reiterated the Central Government's commitment to economic reforms:

  • Simplified tax structures, with income up to ₹12 lakh becoming tax-free.
  • Reduced compliance burden through the elimination of 1,500 obsolete laws and deregulation initiatives.
  • Expansion of MSME-led supply chains to enhance manufacturing self-reliance.
  • Sectoral liberalization, including nuclear energy, bio-manufacturing, critical minerals processing, and lithium battery production.

Boosting Key Sectors: Textile, Tourism, and Technology

The Prime Minister highlighted three key sectors poised for massive growth:

  1. Textiles: Madhya Pradesh is India's organic cotton hub, a top producer of mulberry silk, and home to GI-tagged handloom crafts such as Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees. Investments in technical textiles and the PM MITRA mega textile park in the state were also emphasized.
  2. Tourism: The campaign "MP Ajab Hai, Sabse Gajab Hai" was spotlighted, showcasing Madhya Pradesh's national parks, heritage sites, and wellness tourism potential. The Government is supporting public-private partnerships in tourism infrastructure.
  3. Technology: With strong industrial corridors and an expanding EV ecosystem, the state is emerging as a hub for innovation and advanced manufacturing.

Call for Increased Investment in Madhya Pradesh

Concluding his speech, PM Modi urged global investors to seize the moment and invest in Madhya Pradesh. He reaffirmed his commitment to tripling the speed of development in his third term and assured investors of an increasingly business-friendly environment.

The summit witnessed the participation of Madhya Pradesh Governor Shri Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav, and numerous corporate leaders and global stakeholders. With robust policy backing and growing global confidence, Madhya Pradesh is set to be a key driver of India's journey towards becoming a developed nation.

This year's Global Investors Summit 2025 aims to attract investments across various sectors, reinforcing the state's position as a dynamic investment hub in India.
