The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, A M Choudhary, spearheaded a statutory inspection of Bengaluru Metro's driverless trains on the Yellow Line this Monday. These trains, manufactured by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation, are awaiting vital clearance from the Railway Ministry to commence operations.
Officials emphasized the mandatory nature of the inspection as a pre-requisite for new rolling stock approval. Further signaling tests are pending, after which the Commissioner will be summoned for a comprehensive inspection of the Yellow Line R-5 Section.
Upon receiving the necessary approval and completing the final evaluations, the Yellow Line can be inaugurated for public use. The first set of driverless trains arrived in Bengaluru on February 14, 2024, and have since been stationed at the Hebbagodi depot in Electronic City.
